John Broden is recognized as one of the Senate’s most principled and effective legislators. His legal expertise and determined attitude have earned him respect and allowed him to pursue a wide range of legislative goals, including protecting the rights of homeowners, voters and children.

Prior to his election to the Senate, Broden was a member of the South Bend Common Council and was an attorney for the city of South Bend. He also served as law clerk to Indiana Supreme Court Justice Roger O. DeBruler and taught labor studies courses at Indiana University in South Bend. He is currently a practicing attorney with the firm Leone Halpin.

Broden earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. The senator and his wife, Josephine, have three children and reside in South Bend.
