Public service is a family tradition for Jean Breaux, who followed in her mother’s footsteps as State Senator for District 34. Although she has only served two years, her focus on economic development issues has quickly made her an asset to her fellow senators.
From the Community Development Corporation to the Indiana Department of Commerce to Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, Breaux has extensive working knowledge of how best to promote job creation and retention. She also focuses much of her energy on other issues that are connected to employment, including education, labor and health care.
Breaux attended Boston University before graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She also earned professional certificates from the Economic Development Institute and the International Economic Development Council.
In her spare time, Breaux enjoys participating in community organizations. She is a volunteer for the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the United Way of Central Indiana and Junior Achievement of Indiana. She is a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Diversity Committee, the Urban League, and also serves on the executive board of the Indianapolis Branch of the NAACP. She currently attends Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and resides in Indianapolis with her family. |
